Course Description
Have you ever noticed that the objective of most introductory AutoCAD Civil 3D classes is to educate on all areas of the software and not on the specific tools you need? If you work in a public works organization and want to learn AutoCAD Civil 3D, then this is the class for you. ZenTek Consultants will help you fully understand the tools you’ll need to build projects in-house and to review or update submitted projects from outside consultants. We’ll cover how to complete roadway and utility projects in Civil 3D, construct a collaborative model, and integrate design elements from various disciplines into one cohesive design.
This eight (8) hour program is delivered in four (4), two-hour long sessions.
Course Curriculum
Session 1 – Alignments and Profiles
- Using GIS surfaces as a basis for planning a design
- Creating intelligent alignments for roadway or utility design
- Modifying the geometry and properties of an alignments
- Setting up profiles in profile views for vertical design
- Designing and modifying vertical alignment geometry
Session 2 – Corridors
- Creating parametric cross-sectional designs linked to a roadway model
- Generating 3D representations of roadway models
- Integrating AASHTO standards that assist with achieving good design
- Accomplishing roadway rehab using specialized tools
Session 3 – Pipe Networks
- Laying out gravity systems using design rules
- Adjusting the vertical design of pipe runs in profile
- Adding and modifying structures and pipes
- Using catchments to analyze drainage areas
Session 4 – Pressure Networks
- Understanding how pressure pipes are influenced by other design elements
- Creating pipe runs from other objects
- Placing pressure pipes in profile and avoiding conflicts
- Combining pipe runs and adding appurtenances
Please note that this course uses Autodesk AutoCAD Civil 3D 2024. However, it is applicable to Autodesk AutoCAD Civil 3D 2022 - 2025 versions.
